Latgalian is a dialect of Latvian spoken in the eastern part of the country, in parts of the province of Latgale. It has a number of phonetic differences from Latvian. This category includes surnames that have such phonetic variations from standard Latvian. In most cases, the Latgalian variant is only visible within the page itself under "Variations and Alternate Spellings".
